SADHANA DIWAS

The Arts and Science Exhibition "ASTHRA-2024" and Sadhana Diwas were held at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Sri Vijaya Puram on November 19th 2024. The event started with lighting the lamp by the chief guest Smt. M.V. Jolly, Deputy Director of Education (Perl), Andaman & Nicobar Administration and Guest of honour Shri Ram Pravesh, Deputy Director of Education (Science), Andaman & Nicobar Administration.

The event featured students showcasing their expertise and knowledge through various projects in Science, Mathematics, Social Science, Hindi, English, Arts, and Handicrafts. Judges from each field evaluated the projects, while the students' efforts and creativity drew appreciation from the guests, parents and visitors. The exhibition was well-received, celebrating the hard work and innovative ideas of the young participants.

CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATION

On 14th November 2024, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Sri Vijaya Puram celebrated Children's Day with enthusiasm. The program, held in the assembly hall, featured teachers presenting various cultural performances, including speeches, songs, and plays, which delighted the students. School administrators, including Secretary Sushri.Varsha Bujone, Principal Smt. Jaya Sivasankaran, Vice Principal Smt. Shiny Mohan, and Education Officer Shri Venugopal, inaugurated the Student Council Election by casting their votes. Students and teachers participated, giving students a firsthand experience of the election process. A community lunch followed after it, where students shared food and enjoyed the occasion together. After counting, election results were declared, and students celebrated the victorious council with drum beat and dancing. The day ended with joy, learning, and unity among students.

VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK

K. Pallavi of Class 11th, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Sri Vijaya Puram won Third Position, with cash prize of Rs.2000 in Elocution Competition for the Topic: Culture of Integrity for Nation's Prosperity, held on 30/10/2024 in connection with the Vigilance Awareness Week.

 

GANDHI JAYANTI

On 2nd October 2024, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Sri Vijaya Puram celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti with great enthusiasm. Students honoured the two great leaders through speeches and melodious songs. Smt. Asha Singh, a teacher at the school highlighted the remarkable contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri in her address. The school's Principal, Smt. Jaya Sivasankaran, inaugurated a Lost and Found box, encouraging students to deposit any unclaimed items found on campus. Students who had misplaced belongings were advised to inform the Physical Education Teacher, who was assigned as the in-charge of the Lost and Found box. The program concluded with the distribution of sweets to all staff and students, creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere.

UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD DAY

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) Port Blair, Andaman, celebrated Universal Brotherhood Day on September 11, 2024, with great enthusiasm, embracing the spirit of unity and brotherhood. The event began with a soulful manglacharan, setting a fitting tone for a day filled with inspiring activities. Students took the spotlight, delivering passionate speeches that underscored the significance of UB Day and Chicago address.

The audience was then captivated by a vibrant folkdance performance that showcased the rich culture of India, followed by a melodious song that conveyed messages of harmony and togetherness. On the occasion of Universal Brotherhood Day (UB Day), Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Port Blair, organized an inter-school competition. The event aimed to promote unity, brotherhood, and healthy competition among students. Participating schools showcased their talents in various events, including a quiz competition, Folk dance, Patriotic song and Drawing competition. The competition was marked by enthusiasm and team spirit, reflecting the true essence of Universal Brotherhood Day. Students from different schools came together, sharing ideas and learning from each other. 

The principal's address emphasized the values of unity, brotherhood, and service that are central to VKV's philosophy. The Chief Guest, Swami Omkaratmanandaji, Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission, delivered a motivational speech, inspiring the students to pursue greatness through collective effort and unity. 

A prize distribution ceremony recognized the achievements of students in various fields, encouraging them to strive for excellence. The event concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra, leaving the audience with a sense of peace and harmony. Overall, the UB Day celebration at VKV Port Blair, Andaman, was a tremendous success, promoting a sense of unity and brotherhood among students, teachers, and staff.

GANESH CHATURTHI CELEBRATION

Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Port Blair on 7th September 2024. The students actively participated in the puja, which was conducted by a pandit who chanted shlokas and led the prayers. The atmosphere was serene and filled with peace as everyone joined in singing bhajans dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The puja concluded with the offering of prasad, which was distributed to the parents, students, teachers, and the general public who attended the event. The joy of the occasion was evident as everyone partook in the prasad and rejoiced in the spiritual atmosphere. The celebration fostered a sense of community and devotion, making it a memorable event for all present.

TEACHER'S DAY CELEBRATION

The Teacher’s Day celebration at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Port Blair, organized by the students of Class XII, took place on 5th September 2024 with great enthusiasm. The program commenced with Smt. Manju Singh’s insightful speech on the greatness of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, highlighting his contributions to education and the importance of this day.

In the morning session, students took on the roles of teachers, gaining firsthand experience and understanding the value of the teaching profession. This activity fostered a deeper respect for teachers and their responsibilities.

The afternoon session was filled with vibrant cultural performances presented by the students, adding to the festive atmosphere. Students and teachers then shared a delightful lunch together, further strengthening the bond between them.

The event concluded with much appreciation from all attendees. Both the performances and the collaborative spirit were praised, making the day a memorable one for everyone involved.

  

KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI CELEBRATION

Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with great fervor at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Port Blair, on 26th August 2024. The program began with a solemn Mangalacharan, setting a spiritual tone for the event. Smt. Shiny Mohan, the Vice-Principal, delivered the welcome address, expressing the significance of the occasion. The cultural festivities were highlighted by two solo bhajans, performed by Yashi V C and Vihaas IV A, respectively, which captivated the audience with their devotion and melody.

Smt. K. Shanti, teacher of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya port Blair delivered a speech that enriched the gathering with her insights on the teachings of Lord Krishna. The Chief Guest, Sanyasini Chaitanya Anandamayi from Pranob Kanya Sangh, addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of spiritual growth in education.

The event also featured a Fancy Dress Competition for Balvatika students and a Devotional Dance Competition for primary students, judged by Smti Dhalia Banerjee, Smti Anuradha Mishra, and Smti Sujata Chakraborty. Outstanding students were honored during the prize distribution ceremony. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Subhash, Headmaster, followed by the recitation of the Shanti Mantra.

RAKSHABANDHAN CELEBRATION

Raksha Bandhan, a festival celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters, was joyfully celebrated at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Lamba Line, Port Blair on 19.08.2024. The event brought together students and staff in a warm and festive atmosphere, emphasizing the importance of love, care, and responsibility between siblings.

The celebration began with a special assembly where the significance of Raksha Bandhan was explained, highlighting its cultural and traditional importance in Indian society. Students presented songs and speeches. Speech by the teacher explained the values associated with Raksha Bandhan, such as unity, protection, and respect.

A key highlight of the event was the tying of Rakhi, a sacred thread, by the girls on the wrists of the boys, symbolizing their prayers for their brothers' well-being and the brothers' vows to protect their sisters. The boys, in turn, gave sweets to their sisters, further strengthening the bond of affection between them.

The school also made different teams with guide teachers to tie Rakhi's at different organizations such as Raj Niwas, Secretariat, D.C Office, G B Pant Hospital, Seva Niketan, Ayush Hospital, ICMR Dolly Gunj and Ramakrishna Mission. This fostered a sense of community and teamwork among the students.

Teachers at VKV Lamba Line took the opportunity to discuss the broader implications of Raksha Bandhan, encouraging students to extend the values of protection and care beyond their families to society at large. The event concluded with sweets being distributed to all, symbolizing the sweetness of the sibling relationship.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Port Blair on August 15, 2024. Principal Smt. Jaya Sivasankaran hoisted the National Flag, followed by students singing the National Anthem and Flag Song. Students then saluted the flag, took the pledge, and delivered speeches in Hindi and English, reflecting on the day's significance. Primary, secondary, and higher secondary students presented songs that embodied the spirit of Independence Day. In her address, the principal highlighted the sacrifices of freedom fighters and urged students to honor their legacy by serving the nation with dedication and fostering patriotism and unity.

CELEBRATION OF SHIKSHA SAPTAH (July 22-28, 2024)

The Ministry of Education, Government of India, is celebrating "Shiksha Saptah" from July 22-28, 2024, commemorating the 4th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. On the occasion of Shiksha Saptah celebration the following activities were conducted at VIVEKANANDA KENDRA VIDYALAYA, PORT BLAIR from 22nd July to 28th July 2024.

Day 1: Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) Day

Students from Class III to XII participated in storytelling, hand painting, chart making, slogan writing, and wall magazine creation. A total of 900 students and 26 teachers were involved.

Day 2: Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Day

For Balvatika I to Class II, activities included storytelling, learning about festivals, shapes, occupations, and number recognition, engaging 295 students.

Day 3: Sports Day

Emphasizing the importance of sports and fitness, various indigenous games like Poasham Pa, Gilli danda, Kanche/Marble, and Langdi were played, with 929 students and 50 teachers participating.

Day 4: Cultural Day

Activities aimed at promoting unity and diversity included songs on garbage and tree conservation, devotional songs, folk dances, and mono acts. A total of 931 students and 50 teachers took part.

Day 5: Skilling and Digital Initiatives Day

Activities such as gardening, clay modeling, cleanliness drives, role play, elocution, and debate were conducted, involving 927 students and 50 teachers.

Day 6: Eco Clubs for Mission Life Day

A plantation drive under the #Plant4Mother initiative was held, promoting environmental awareness. 126 students and 15 teachers participated.

Day 7: Community Involvement Day

Tithi Bhojan was organized for the parents of primary class students, with 44 parents and 7 students participated, fostering community involvement and building.

The week-long celebration effectively combined education, culture, and community engagement, enhancing both student learning and community connection."

GURU PURNIMA CELEBRATIONS

The Guru Purnima celebration& felicitation of Class X &XII 2023-24 in VKV Lamba Line. The Guru Purnima celebration at VKV Port Blair commenced with a warm welcome, invoking divine blessings through Mangalacharan. Principal Smt. Jaya Sivasankaran delivered the welcome address, followed by a melodious song by primary and secondary students. K. Prathika of Class XI gave an inspiring speech, and Smt. Sangeeta Debnath spoke on the significance of the day. The event felicitated the toppers of Class X and XII for the academic year 2023-2024, celebrating their hard work and dedication. Chief Guest Swami Shuddhanand Saraswatiji Maharaj enlightened the gathering. shri S. Subhash headmaster of the school  delivered the vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the Shanti Mantra, spreading peace and joy.
