UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD DAY CELEBRATION

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Sri Vijaya Puram, celebrated Universal Brotherhood Day on 13th September 2025 with great  enthusiasm and reverence. The occasion commemorated the historic speech delivered by Swami Vivekananda at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893.

The celebration began with lighting the traditional lamp and Manglacharan  followed by Welcome Address by the Principal. The students of Class VI and VII  presented a graceful Invocation Dance, setting a devotional tone to the programme.

The highlight of the event was the Chicago Address, presented by Kumari Palak Biswas of Class VII, echoing the immortal words of Swami Vivekananda. After this, the students presented a melodious song on Swami Vivekananda, followed by a skit by the Class XI students depicting two small incidents from Swamiji’s life that highlighted equality and selfless service.

This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where the Chief Guest, Shri Debdas Paik, awarded the prizes to winners of various inter-school competitions- drawing and patriotic songs.  In his address, Shri Paik emphasized the significance of Universal Brotherhood Day and Swamiji’s vision of unity and harmony.

As the programme continued, Saanvi Chand of Class XI delivered a Hindi speech on “Swami Vivekananda – Adhunik Samay ke Margdarshak.” The students of class IX presented  a beautiful devotional song, "Raghuvara"  filling the atmosphere with serenity.

Prizes for other competitions-group songs, folk dance and skit-were distributed by the Special Guest,  Mananeeya Hanumantha Rao Ji. In his speech, he spoke about the richness of Indian culture and the timeless messages and speeches of Swami Vivekananda,  and love towards our nation  and highlighted the ideals of Swami Vivekananda stressing the importance of cultivating the spirit of universal brotherhood in today’s times. A vibrant folk of Dhakla, Gujarat performed  by the students of the Vidyalaya added colour and liveliness to the celebration.

The programme concluded with Vote of Thanks delivered by the Vice Principal followed by  Shanti Mantra.

The event was graced by 6 teachers & 10  prize winning students from other schools and around 150 students  56  teachers from VKV making the celebration truly memorable and inspiring.
