Janmashtami

The Janmashtami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna, one of the most powerful and famous reincarnations of Lord Vishnu. According to the Hindu calendar, this festival is celebrated on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha or the 8th day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadon. This day indicated the beginning of hope in the older times; hope, that the malicious rule of Kansa would soon end. 


To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, and to celebrate the extraordinary bond between children and the Almighty, Janmashtami was celebrated at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Lambaline, Port Blair on 19th August 2022 with mirth and joy. The chief guest for the program was swami Shudhanand Saraswathiji Maharaj, Acharya Chinmaya Mission was greeted by Sri Vijayakumar, Principal, V. K.V Port Blair. The fragrance of flowers, the soothing aroma of Agarbathi, and the jingle of bells filled the air in the assembly hall. This day signifies a lot more to the tiny tots of the school. It signifies excitement, delight, and a joyous spirit of enthrallment. To jubilate and to learn the spirit of the young minds, the fancy dress competition was held. The students dressed up as lord Krishna and Radha, with flutes, peacock feathers, and matkas, presented instances from Lord Krishna's life.


 The main attraction of the event was the dance competition. The premise was filled with the spirit of festivity with the music and joy during the dance competition. The life history of Lord Krishna was very beautifully depicted in each group dance. The purpose of the flamboyant celebration is to inculcate the traditional value and respect for culture in the students. The celebration was truly entertaining and educating.



The parents had a great time watching their kids taking part in various competitions. The chief guest of the program swami Shudhanand Saraswathiji Maharaj, Acharya Chinmaya Mission blessed all the students on this auspicious day and gave the prizes to the winners and the participants. 


His words truly summed up the effectiveness of celebrating festivals of devotion and esteem towards their parents. The vote of thanks was proposed by Shri.S. Subhash, HM( Pry). The program concluded with the Shanti mantra. Prasad was distributed at the end of the program.
